Rurrenabaque, also called the gateway to Bolivia's Amazon, is a small town nestled on the banks of the Beni River in Northern Bolivia. Getting here is best by a 14h night bus leaving from La Paz, buses leave in the afternoon and arrive by 6 am to 8 am in Rurrenabaque.

Good to know before you start planning. From Rurrenabaque, it is easy to visit the Rainforests and the Pampas, but what is the difference?
The Bolivian Pampas and the Amazon are both rich in biodiversity, but they offer different experiences:
Bolivian Pampas:
Landscape
The Pampas are seasonally flooded grasslands and wetlands, more open and less dense than the Amazon rainforest. Located North-East from Rurrenabaque.Wildlife
Easier to spot animals like capybaras, caimans, anacondas, and pink river dolphins due to the open environment and wide waterways.Activities

You should at least sleep one night in the Pampas. For the best experience, 2 nights would be perfect to enjoy nature and wild animals.
Amazon Rainforest:
Landscape
A dense, tropical rainforest with towering trees, thick underbrush, and an intricate ecosystem. Located South from Rurrenabaque.Wildlife
Rich in biodiversity but harder to spot due to the dense foliage. Animals include jaguars, monkeys, and exotic birds.Activities
Jungle treks, exploring the canopy, visiting indigenous communities, and deeper immersion in the rainforest's complex ecosystem.Visit
It takes hours by boat in the Beni River or Tipuani River to get into the Amazon, an amazing experience with unique scenery. Because of the distance, I would recommend at least 2 nights in the Rainforest. Become one with nature and surroundings.
In summary, the Pampas offers more accessible wildlife viewing in open wetlands, while the Amazon provides a deeper, more immersive experience in a dense tropical rainforest.
