Tangalle

Tangalle, on one of the South's most beautiful coastlines, is a popular beach destination with a mix of simple guesthouses and some upscale hotels and villas. Even though it’s charming, Tangalle hasn’t become a big tourist spot, so it stays quiet and relaxed compared to the busier resorts further west.

Tangalle Beach

Tangalle Beach extends for miles around the town, all the way to Rekawa Beach, so you're sure to find a quiet spot for yourself.

The two sides of the beach are very different. The west side has calm water and hidden coves, perfect for luxury villas and upscale visitors.

The east side features a long sandy beach with trendy villas, small homestays or resorts, and charming seafood restaurants. However, the waves on this side can be quite large and the water rough.

I think this beach and area of Sri Lanka is perfect for relaxing, reading, and enjoying the calm in one of the many beach resorts Tangalle Beach offers. I noticed that most visitors were older which made sense, given the peaceful atmosphere. However, it was too quiet for us, with not much to do besides laying on the beach, so we left a day early and headed to Merissa instead.

Silent Beach

Silent Beach in Tangalle is often hailed as the most beautiful beach in Sri Lanka. This hidden gem is surrounded by nature, featuring golden sand, azure waters, and palm trees.

There isn't much to do here except relax with a book or sip a fresh coconut at one of the small beach bars tucked away at the back of the beach.
